Purpose
Set the delivery price FlintPOS calculates from drive time or miles. You can also set free-delivery rules and extra fees.
Dispatch Pro can add a separate fee for the powered truck assigned to each trip. See Trucks > Base delivery fee for that setting.
Where to find it
Open Settings, then choose Delivery.
Product locationSettings > Delivery
Prerequisites and availability
Sign in with a role that can edit Delivery Settings. If you use Dispatch Pro, check the locations and fee types before saving tiers.
Setup and operating steps
Follow the steps below. Check each range, fee, and delivery limit before you save.
Before you begin
Decide whether your normal delivery price is based on the trip’s Drive time, a flat Drive miles range, or a Per mile rate. Use the same measurement your team uses when it quotes delivery.
- Have a name and price ready for each range, such as “Local” or “0–10 miles.”
- Decide whether your last range should stop at a maximum or continue indefinitely.
- With Dispatch Pro, decide if each fee is a tier, extra dump, pallet unloading, or product service.
Open Delivery Settings
- Sign in with an account that can edit Delivery Settings.
- Open Settings.
- Choose Delivery.
The page is called Delivery Settings. It has Portal Delivery Rules, Fee Options, Free Delivery, Additional Delivery Fees, and Delivery Fee Tiers.
RouteSettings > Delivery
Use guided setup
In the Delivery Fee Tiers area, select Start guided setup. If tiers already exist, the button is labeled Redo guided setup. The wizard saves a connected set of global ranges.
Step 1: Choose the pricing method
- Drive time
- One flat fee for each configured drive-time range, measured in minutes.
- Drive miles
- One flat fee for each configured mileage range.
- Per mile
- A per-mile rate for the miles that fall inside each configured mileage range. Multiple ranges add together across the trip.
Step 2: Save each range
- Enter a Name for the range.
- Review the read-only Starts at value. FlintPOS fills this in for you.
- Enter Ends at. Enter 0 when this is the final range with no ending point.
- Enter the Delivery fee for Drive time or Drive miles, or Price per mile for Per mile.
- Select Save this price.
The wizard checks that the endpoint is greater than the current start, the fee is at least $0, and ranges connect without gaps. For the next range, FlintPOS advances the start by one whole minute for Drive time or by 0.1 mile for flat Drive miles; Per mile keeps the shared boundary so each mile is charged once. Drive-time endpoints must be whole minutes. Flat mileage endpoints may use one decimal place, such as 5.1 miles.
Step 3: Continue or stop
After a range with a limit, choose Yes, add another zone to add one more. Choose No, review setup to stop at that limit. An endpoint of 0 means the range has no limit.
Step 4: Review and save
Review the labels, ranges, fees, and delivery limit. For Per mile, the review includes an example total. Select Save delivery fee setup when the values are correct.
Use advanced tiers
Use Advanced: Delivery Fee Tiers when you need to edit individual rows or maintain tiers without running the wizard. The form maps a drive-time or mileage range to a fee.
| Field | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Label | Give the tier a name staff can recognize. |
| Type | Choose minutes or miles. |
| Min / Max | Set the range boundaries. Leave Max blank for unlimited. |
| Fee ($) | Set the flat fee, or the per-mile rate when By mile is enabled. |
| By mile | For a mileage tier, charge the configured rate per mile within that range. |
With Dispatch Pro, use New tier applies to to set a tier for all locations or one location. Location tiers replace the global tiers for that location.
Add a rate beyond your last delivery zone
Use an overage rate when the last flat-fee zone has a set maximum, but you still want to serve trips that go beyond it.
- Open Settings > Delivery > Advanced: Delivery Fee Tiers, or start the guided setup.
- Add or edit a flat-fee zone with a maximum, such as up to 30 minutes or 25 miles.
- Enter the zone's base fee and an Optional overage rate. A minute zone uses dollars per extra minute. A flat-mile zone uses dollars per extra mile.
- Save and check the fee for an address beyond the last zone.
The overage applies only when the route goes past the final active flat-fee zone for that delivery location. For example, a $50 zone through 30 minutes with a $2 per-minute overage adds $10 to the zone price for a 35-minute route. Other trip fees, service fees, and tax may still add to the order total.
- A rate on an earlier zone does not apply while a later zone matches.
- The zone must have a finite maximum. An unlimited zone cannot use an overage rate.
- When a delivery location has its own tiers, those replace the global tiers for that location. Check the last tier that the location uses.
- Progressive per-mile pricing has its own calculation and cannot also use a zone overage rate.
Set up Free Delivery
Free Delivery waives the calculated fee when a category meets a rule. It is separate from delivery tiers.
- In
Settings > Delivery, find Free Delivery. - Select Add free delivery.
- Choose the Product category.
- Choose Quantity or Order value.
- Enter the inclusive Minimum, leave Enabled on when the rule should apply, and select Save free delivery.
Quantity uses each product’s base-unit conversion. Order value uses qualifying merchandise after line discounts and before tax, tips, delivery, or other fees. If an enabled rule qualifies, FlintPOS waives the whole calculated delivery fee. A manual tier or custom fee can still charge. Choose Use calculated fee to return to automatic pricing so the rule can apply.
A product marked deliverable or a saved price does not create a Free Delivery rule. The order must meet an enabled category rule.
Add additional delivery fees
In Additional Delivery Fees, select Add Fee, enter a Fee Name and Amount, then select Save Fees. Without Dispatch Pro, staff can select these fees manually while scheduling a delivery.
With Dispatch Pro enabled, choose the fee type that matches the operational charge:
- Manual / other: staff may select the fee while scheduling.
- Additional dumps: automatically charges once for each dump after the first dump on a trip.
- Pallet unloading: automatically charges once per palletized delivery trip.
- Product-specific service: assigns a service such as stacking or installation to applicable products.
For a product service, set if it is required or optional, how it charges, and its driver time. Add the service to the product in Delivery Handling.
Understand manual fee choices
In Set Delivery Details, staff can pick a tier, set a custom fee, waive or restore the fee, or choose Use calculated fee.
A chosen tier or custom fee stays in place when the schedule, date, products, address, or origin changes. It stays until staff changes the fee. Without a manual choice, FlintPOS recalculates the fee.
Verify the result
- Save the setup, reopen Settings > Delivery, and confirm the tier labels and boundaries.
- Test one address inside a finite range and confirm its calculated fee.
- Test an address beyond the last range. A limited setup should block it. An unlimited setup should charge the last range.
- If a Free Delivery rule is enabled, test a qualifying and a non-qualifying order.
- With Dispatch Pro, check the tier for the delivery location. Also check the type of each extra fee.
If a fee is wrong on one order, choose a tier or Set custom delivery fee in Set Delivery Details. Choose Use calculated fee to return to automatic pricing.
Field reference
The delivery-fee setup uses these field groups:
| Field group | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Pricing method | Choose Drive time, Drive miles, or Per mile. |
| Range values | Set the name, starting point, ending point, and delivery fee or per-mile price. |
| Optional overage rate | Sets the added amount per minute or mile beyond the maximum of the last active flat-fee zone. It applies only to a finite final zone. |
| Free Delivery | Set a category, qualification type, minimum, and enabled state. |
| Additional Delivery Fees | Set a fee name, amount, and any applicable Dispatch Pro fee type. |
Expected results
Saved tiers set the fee for each range. A qualifying Free Delivery rule waives the calculated fee. A manual fee can still charge until staff choose Use calculated fee.
Troubleshooting
- If you cannot save a range, check that its end is after its start, its fee is $0 or more, and there are no gaps.
- If a fee is unexpected on one order, review its manual fee choice and return it to Use calculated fee when appropriate.
- If Free Delivery does not qualify, confirm the enabled rule, category, qualification type, and inclusive minimum.
- If an overage is missing, check that the route passed the maximum of the final active flat-fee zone for that location. A later zone or location-specific tier can change which zone is final.
