Purpose

Shipping connects FlintPOS to Shippo for shipping-rate requests and label purchases. It also controls the label file and layout defaults, the register printer used for labels, sender information, and the packed-product measurements used in rating.

Where to find it

  1. An admin opens Settings.
  2. Choose Shipping under the website and integrations settings.
  3. After Shippo is enabled and saved, staff open Inventory and edit a product to enter its Ready-To-Ship Package values.

Product locationSettings > Shipping · Inventory > Product > Edit > Ready-To-Ship Package

Before you start

  • Only an admin can set up Shippo in the current Settings page. Staff can use product shipping fields after the admin completes Shippo setup.
  • Enter a Shippo API key supplied through your Shippo account. FlintPOS keeps the saved key when the field is left blank. Do not place a key in a public note or article.
  • Product package fields appear after shipping labels are set up and only when the product is marked Shippable.
  • The desktop app is needed for the local shipping-label printer workflow. A browser-only screen may save settings but cannot load local printers.

Set up Shippo

  1. Open Settings > Shipping as an admin.
  2. Turn on Enable Shippo.
  3. Enter the Shippo API key. Leave the field blank only when retaining the saved key.
  4. Choose Label File Type and Label Layout for generated labels.
  5. In the desktop app, choose Refresh. Then select Printer for this register or leave it on the system default.
  6. Enter the default sender name, company, phone, and email used for shipment requests. Then select Save Shipping Settings.

Enter packed-product measurements

  1. Open or create a product in Inventory after Shippo setup is saved.
  2. Turn on Shippable.
  3. Enter the packed box or parcel’s length, width, height, and weight. Use the packed package, not the loose item or bulk delivery measurement.
  4. Save the product. When a shipment is created, use the delivery or shipment flow to enter the recipient details and request rates.
  5. Review the rate, choose a service, and buy the label only after checking the recipient, package, and sender values.

Check the result

Configured shippable products can request shipping rates, and staff can buy a label through the shipment flow. The chosen file type, layout, sender details, and printer check the generated label output.

Troubleshooting

  • Product shipping fields are missing: confirm Shippo is enabled, the API key has been saved, and the product is marked Shippable.
  • Rates cannot be loaded: check the recipient address, package measurements, sender details, and Shippo connection. The current UI may show that a delivery estimate is not available when no rate is returned.
  • Printer list is empty: use the desktop app, choose Refresh, and confirm the intended printer is available to that workstation.
  • Label is the wrong size or format: review Label File Type, Label Layout, printer selection, and real label stock.
  • Rate is unexpectedly high: verify the packed dimensions and weight. Ready-To-Ship Package values must describe the packed parcel; Dispatch Pro’s loose-bulk measurements belong in Delivery Product Capability.
