Purpose

Delivery Handling sets how Dispatch Pro plans products and services. A product can be loose bulk or palletized. You can also add services such as stacking or installation.

First set up services in Delivery Fees. Then add them to products here.

If an order has pickup, Future Will Call, and delivery, plan only its delivery amount. See Orders to split the order.

Where to find it

  1. Open Inventory.
  2. Select a product and choose Edit, or start a new product.
  3. Open the product’s delivery and handling area to choose its type and services.

Product locationInventory > Product > Edit

Prerequisites and availability

  • These controls need Dispatch Pro. In-store products need no delivery measurements or services.
  • First add the service in Settings > Delivery > Additional Delivery Fees. Choose the product service type.
  • Anyone who can edit the product can add its services. Only allowed roles can change Delivery Settings.

Setup and operating steps

  1. In Inventory, set the product type: in-store, loose bulk, or palletized.
  2. Enter weight and volume for one base unit. See Delivery Product Capability.
  3. Select the product services. Required services are added automatically. You can offer optional services as extras.
  4. Save the product. Repeat for other products. To edit many at once, choose the delivery-handling service action. Add, remove, or replace the services, then confirm and save.

Use product services on mixed orders

For an order with pickup, Future Will Call, and delivery, plan only the line's Delivery amount. Pickup and Will Call stay at their pickup locations. A delivery service does not send them on a delivery.

If the customer changes the split, review the new delivery amount and service charges before saving. Use the order steps to make the change. Do not add a second product line to hide an amount already fulfilled.

Field reference

Delivery handling fields
FieldMeaning, default, and validation
Category fulfillment typeSets the default product type for the category: In-store product, Loose bulk delivery, or Palletized delivery. New categories start with Loose bulk delivery. This field shows when Dispatch Pro is on.
Fulfillment typeSets a type for one product instead of using its category default. Keep Use category default to follow the category, or choose another type. In-store products stay out of delivery plans. Loose-bulk and palletized products need measurements and the right truck. The bulk editor can change several products.
Product-specific servicesAdds services from Delivery Settings to this product. Each service shows if it is required or optional, if it charges per unit or per trip, and how much driver time it uses. Required services add on their own. Optional services can be offered in store and online.
How should assigned fees change? When you edit many products, choose Add selected fees, Remove selected fees, or Replace all assigned fees. Replacing with no services clears all add-ons from those products.

Expected results

  • Selected services appear in the delivery plan. Dispatch Pro adds required service time and shows optional services.
  • Changing a product’s handling assignment changes later plans; it does not rewrite a completed delivery.

Troubleshooting

  • Service is missing: add it under Additional Delivery Fees. Reopen the product.
  • Product is missing: check its type. Add weight, volume, and fulfillment details.
  • Service time looks wrong: check if it charges per trip or unit. Check the product unit conversion.
