Keep work at the right yard

Add each yard or branch once. Use its location for stock, registers, pickup, delivery, and staff access.

Where to find it

Open Settings > Inventory Locations. The working-location selector and location-aware workflows use these records.

Before you start

Admins and managers can keep location profiles. Have the name, address, time zone, and contact details ready. Check the list first so you do not add the same yard twice.

Set up a yard or branch

  1. As an admin or manager, open Settings > Inventory Locations. Choose Add Location.
  2. Enter the name, address, time zone, and contact details. Use address search for a mapped pickup or delivery address.
  3. Choose Customer pickup, Sends deliveries, or both for the work this yard does. Choose Main location for the intended default yard.
  4. Save the location. An incomplete profile can stay as an inactive draft. An active location needs a valid time zone.
  5. Set staff Location access under Settings > Users.
  6. For counter sales, assign a register under Settings > Register Setup.
  7. Set print routes only if the yard uses a printer. A yard can receive digital work without one.

You can activate a complete location before adding a register. Pickup and delivery also need a complete mapped address. All Locations is for review. Choose a real yard before creating or changing work.

Location choices

What each location choice does
ChoiceMeaning
ActiveStaff can choose an active yard for work. Turning it off keeps its history but removes it from new choices.
MainChoose the main yard as the default for the store.
Customer PickupAllow customers to pick up goods at this yard.
Sends deliveriesAllow delivery trips to start from this yard.
Short CodeUse a short, clear code that staff can read on slips and in lists.

Sell at one yard and fulfill at another

  1. Choose the selling register and location for the sale.
  2. Choose the stock or pickup location offered for the items. Schedule each delivery origin as its own trip.
  3. At the receiving yard, open the work notification to reach the order or Loader Queue.
  4. Record the pickup or load at the assigned yard. Check that the right quantities remain open.

The sale location, payment location, stock source, and delivery origin can differ. Read the scope label when comparing reports. Clearing a notification does not pick up or deliver goods. Printed documents keep the location details saved with the sale record.

Check the result

Reopen the location and check its saved details. Ask a staff member with access to choose it. Check stock, pickup, delivery, and register choices for the work you enabled.

Troubleshooting

  • If a location is missing from a selector, check that it is active and that the user has access.
  • If pickup or delivery does not offer a branch, enable the matching tool and verify the address and time zone.
  • If a duplicate exists, stop using the duplicate and ask an admin to check it. Do not move historical stock or orders by hand.
